Exchange Flags by Graham Donald
A modern day crime is paralleled with criminal investigations in previous centuries. A murder in a remote part of Northern Ireland is the catalyst for the investigations of the only remaining officer in a proceeds of crime team. With the new information he follows the money trail to Liverpool where he is joined by a civilian forensic expert. At the end of the 18th century Captain Horatio Nelson arrives in Liverpool to investigate naval supply fraud. US Consul Thomas Dudley arrives in Liverpool in the mid 19th century to stop the building of illegal armed cruisers during the American Civil War. Exchange Flags is an unconventional crime story of time shifting investigations, urban exploration and discovery of past events that are part of world history. The three detective stories interweave and the pace quickens as they reach their respective finales.
