  1. Help!! I am a fairly seeaonsd runner who will turn 55 for the start of the spring race season. I was looking forward to the start a new age class but not the way my past year has gone. Let me recap. I was registered to run the ING New York marathon through guaranteed entry because I had qualified. This bucket list race was to be a celebration of running my 10th marathon. I had picked up my race bib and was shopping in the expo when I heard the announcement that the race was cancelled. My first reaction like most was disbelief, followed by disappointment. But there was another reaction . . .relief if you can imagine. This is because I had battled injury with my glute max for most of the year that left me unable to adequately train for this race. I really had no right to be participating but there was too much emotion involved not to participate so I planned on a very long slow marathon with a lot of walk breaks. This injury with my glute has affected my hip and IT in the past. I have even been diagnosed with piriformis syndrome. I have also experienced low back issues, especially with the SI joint. But this year, the severely strained glute max and hamstring has been the worst. I just can’t get over this. I have become so discouraged and disheartened I am ready to give up running for good. But in a moment of feeling like I was healing and getting my running mojo back, I registered for Boston 2013. I am hoping this will make up for the cancellation of New York. But just this week the feeling of strain in the glute is returning again. My hope is that this book will help pinpoint the error of my ways and provide strategies for me to keep running for many years to come. Thanks!

  2. Thanks for that! It’s just the answer I needed.
